How much does spray foam removal cost — and is yours quote fair?

You came for numbers. Here they are. Then: before comparing more quotes, find out whether any removal is justified for your loft. An inspection is how you evaluate quotes, not just whether to get more of them.

    Typical spray foam removal cost

Market-typical ranges for full mechanical removal, including waste disposal. Closed-cell foam is harder to remove and consistently more expensive than open-cell.

    Small terraced (90–110 m² loft)£2,000 – £3,200£3,200 – £5,000

    Larger detached / bungalow (220 m²+)£5,000 – £7,500£7,000 – £11,000

Indicative market ranges based on quotes seen by inspected homeowners across North West England, 2024–2026. SprayFoamCheck does not carry out removal and does not earn commission from removal companies.

The three factors that drive removal price

    1. Foam type

Closed-cell foam is rigid and strongly bonded. Open-cell is softer and easier to detach. The same loft can vary by 40–60% in removal cost depending on foam type.

    2. Loft size and access

Total rafter area, headroom, hatch access, and obstruction by stored items all affect labour time and equipment requirements.

    3. Timber condition

If rafter timbers beneath the foam are moisture-damaged, remediation work is required on top of removal. An inspection identifies this in advance, so quotes can include it rather than surprise you mid-job.

    The £295 vs £4,200 maths

Mid-market removal: roughly £4,200. Independent inspection: £295. Ratio: under 7%.

The inspection isn't a tax on the removal. It's the document that tells you whether the £4,200 is necessary at all — and, if it is, what the specification should look like.

Jan was extremely helpful. Talked us through the issues with spray foam very clearly and produced a detailed report with recommendations for next steps. He also followed up with an after sales call, and advised that he was there to help with any further advice that we may need. I would highly recommend.

Why are all our reviews on Google?

Simple: Google reviews are the one thing we can't control. We can't edit them, hide them, or choose which ones you see. Every review comes from a verified Google account and is published unedited, in public, where anyone can read it.

We built SprayFoamCheck on independence — no removal arm, no referral fees — so our reviews sit on the one platform where we have no say over what's shown. If a review site let us filter or curate, it wouldn't prove anything.

Still on the fence? Don't take this page's word for it. Read what other homeowners wrote, straight from the source — then decide.
